We are part of your team, guiding, championing and supporting your business. Steven Bourne

Steven Bourne

Managing Director

Steve is one of the two founder partners of The Chartwell Practice Limited and has over 35 years’ experience in working with clients to help them to get the best out of their business. He is the Managing Director of the practice which means running our business as well as dealing with both existing and potential clients. Steve is Finance Director and also takes responsibility for client development. Steve is married to Kate with two daughters and enjoys family time as well as most sports, particularly football – being a lifelong supporter of Leicester City.
Martin Chilver

Martin Chilver

Director & Tax Specialist

Having completed his Chartered training with the business, Martin became a partner of the practice in 2006. Now Martin is a director and tax specialist, heading up the professional and technical side of Chartwell. He works to deliver the very best tax advice and wealth planning services to our clients. He also has particular expertise in business acquisition and restructuring, preparing businesses for sale and planning for exit or retirement.

Martin is married to Anna, they have two sons and he enjoys football refereeing in his spare time.

Kate Bourne

Production Director

Kate is an AAT qualified accounting technician and has been with the practice since we started in 1999. Kate is now operations director for the business working with the accounting team, and heads up product development to keep us up to date with forward thinking solutions and new technologies.

She is married to Steve and has two daughters. She likes the arts and sport: especially equestrianism, rugby union and cricket.

Anna Stubbs

Marketing & HR Director

Anna has worked for the business from the start and is now Marketing director and HR director for the business. Anna is also involved in personal tax work in our compliance department and works on client communication and promotion of our services.

Anna is married to Martin with two sons and the newest member of the family, Hank the dog, who can sometime be seen in the office. Anna enjoys being with her family, running and craft hobbies.

Caroline Skivington

Client services manager & Front of House

Caroline has been welcoming and assisting our clients as part of our client service and front of house team since 2003. She is at the forefront of our business being the first point of contact for everyone that calls, comes to see us, or has a query, and she provides a wide range of support to clients and the rest of the team to keep the business running smoothly. Caroline also runs our Company Secretarial services to clients.

Caroline enjoys time spent with her family, running, yoga & trips to the theatre.

Miranda Theobold

Planning and Operation

Miranda joined the business in 2017 in our then payroll department. Her role has developed as the business has changed over the years, and now Miranda coordinates all the workflow planning for the business and develops our systems and processes. She is also part of our accounts support team and works on bookkeeping and other aspects of compliance work.

Rebecca Hayles

Client Advisor (Trainee Chartered Accountant)

Becky joined the practice in August 2016 and very successfully completed her Association of Accounting Technicians qualification in 2019. Becky has continued her professional studies and now well on the way towards being a Chartered Accountant via the ICAEW Higher Apprenticeship route, due to complete later in 2022.

Becky’s hobbies and interests include going to the cinema, shopping, clay pigeon shooting, spending time with her family and friends and looking after her three dogs.

Rachel Jones

Client Advisor

Rachel is a key part of our accounts team providing client support. She rejoined Chartwell after 11 years in a finance department in industry, having been with us for 3 years before that. She is AAT qualified and her background means she has lots of valuable experience to share as her role involves helping and advising clients.

Rachel is married with two teenage daughters. She enjoys family time, especially holidays and time with her horse and dog.

Hanna Kelsey

Accountancy Apprentice

Hanna joined us as our accountancy apprentice in April 2019.

Having balanced work and remote studying all through lockdown, Hanna has now very successfully completed her Level 3 AAT apprenticeship with Babington College in Derby.  She is now continuing her training and studying for her Level 4 AAT qualification one day per week on the Apprenticeship scheme.

Amy Belcher

Accountancy Apprentice

Amy is the latest addition to our team, joining the business in November 2021. Amy has started her apprenticeship studying AAT level 3 with Babington, and works in our accounts team providing support for clients and for her fellow team members. Welcome Amy!
