Meet The Team

The team at the Chartwell Practice is our greatest asset. We believe that the key to a successful and productive business is a happy work force. One of our mottos here is “serious stuff in a fun way” and we try to ensure that we support each other in enjoying our work too. This attitude also applies to our client service as well, which is one of the reasons why we won a business award for Best Customer Service in 2014.

Steven Bourne

Managing Director

Steve is one of the two founder partners of The Chartwell Practice Limited and has over 35 years’ experience in working with clients to help them to get the best out of their business. He is the Managing Director of the practice which means running our business as well as dealing with both existing and potential clients.

Steve is married to Kate with two daughters and enjoys family time as well as most sports, particularly football – being a lifelong supporter of Leicester City.

Martin Chilver

Director & Tax Specialist

In 2006 Martin became a partner of the practice. Now a Director, Martin is The Chartwell Practice Tax Expert, specialising in helping us to deliver the very best tax advice and wealth planning service to our clients. He also has particular expertise in business acquisition and restructuring, preparing businesses for sale and planning for exit or retirement.

Martin is married to Anna, they have two sons and he enjoys football refereeing in his spare time.

Kate Bourne

Client Services Director

Kate is an AAT qualified accounting technician and has been with the practice since we started in 1999. Kate is now director of client services for the business.

She is married to Steve and has two daughters. She likes the arts and sport: especially equestrianism, rugby union and cricket.

Anna Stubbs

Business Development Director

Anna has worked for the practice since we started: marketing and promoting our services. Anna now manages our tax department and works on business development projects.

Anna is married to Martin with two sons. She enjoys being with her family, running and making cakes.

Pindor Samra

Head of Accounts

Pindor joined the business in 2017 to head up our accounts department delivering accounting services and advice to clients. He is a qualified accountant with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and has over 30 years’ experience of working in audit, accounting and taxation areas. His particular expertise is working with clients using Sage Line 50 accounts software and Xero Cloud accounting.

Pindor usually spends his weekends playing games on the PS3 with his son or play fighting, helping/learning to making indian curries with his wife, running and getting together with family and friends.

Sandra Roberts

Head of Payroll

Sandra is in charge of our payroll department, and has been working with the practice since 2006. Sandra is fully qualified with the Institute of Payroll Professionals and ensures that our clients’ payrolls are done on time, meet all the requirements of RTI and auto enrolment so that they are fully compliant without hassle or fuss.

She has three children and when she is not being ‘Mum’s Taxi Service’ for the cricket and football matches, enjoys cooking and gardening.

Caroline Skivington

Head of Client Service

Caroline is Head of Client Service and has been welcoming and assisting our clients as part of our reception and administration team since 2003. She is at the forefront of our business being the first point of contact with everyone that comes into contact with us.

Caroline likes vegetarian food, has two grown up children and enjoys running in her spare time.

Robert Bowley

Senior Accounts Advisor

Robert is our Senior Accounts Advisor and has worked in our accounts department team almost since we started, joining us in 2000. Robert’s speciality is in helping a broad spectrum of our clients with anything and everything to do with producing financial records and figures for companies and small businesses.

Robert has three sons and loves music and football.

Justine Taylor

Client Advisor & Xero Champion

Justine achieved her AAT qualification in 2014 and now uses that knowledge to help our clients in producing management figures and year end accounts with the minimum of hassle.

Justine is also one of our Xero Cloud accounting experts and has already helped many clients to use cloud accounting to save time in their businesses.

Outside of Chartwell life, Justine likes going on holiday, cooking and walking her Jack Russell dog, Cooper.

Alison Jowett

Client Service & Welcome

Alison joined our client service team in early 2016 and helps Caroline in the key role of welcoming our clients and supporting our team here. She also assists in marketing the practice and in organising and running seminars and events.

Alison is married with two sons. She enjoys baking, walking and going to the theatre.

Miranda Theobald

Payroll Advisor

Miranda joined our payroll department in 2017 to assist Sandra in delivering payroll services to our clients.

Rebecca Hayles

Accountancy Apprentice

Becky joined the practice in August 2016 and is our apprentice who is now in her final year of study towards her qualification with the Association of Accounting Technicians at Burton and South Derbyshire College.

Becky’s hobbies and interests include going to the cinema, shopping, clay pigeon shooting, spending time with her family and friends and looking after her three dogs.
